ABOUT DAVE SCRIVEN-YOUNG
I grew up in a community where corruption was rampant, gang violence was persistent in the public schools, and the government did not work for its citizens. Growing up, I vowed to pursue a career that would allow me to serve others and advance the cause of justice. I also vowed that, if I was ever blessed to have children, my family would live in a safe community with neighbors who would care about each other, and a government that protected our God-given rights.
I have been lucky in my life. I pursued my dreams by graduating from Marquette University as a history and political science major and by receiving my law degree from DePaul University. As an attorney, I have been privileged to fight for the rights of my clients, protect the environment, and fight for justice. I have been blessed with a loving wife and two energetic and hardworking sons. My wife and I have been fortunate to raise our boys in Will County, a community where my boys attended world-class public schools and neighbors help each other.
Appreciating the great opportunities that living in this community has given my family, I have given back with my time, talent, and treasure. In 2021, I was elected to serve as Wheatland Township Tax Collector; my primary job is to manage and care for the Wheatland Township Cemetery and oversee the cemetery’s trustees, volunteers, and staff. During my time as Collector, I made sure the cemetery was on a sound financial footing and also oversaw the completion of several new projects, including the placement of a new sign, fence, and shed, and the replacement of gravel for the roads. This has added to the beauty and peacefulness of the cemetery.
I have served the people of Will County in other ways, including serving as a Commissioner on the City of Naperville's Special Events & Community Arts (SECA) Board; chair of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce's Corporate Social Responsibility Committee; a Wheatland Athletic Association baseball coach and umpire; a cantor, greeter, and religious education teacher for my parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Church; a board member for Neuqua Valley High School’s Chorus Parents Association and Theater Parents Association, as a hockey referee for the Illinois Hockey Association of Illinois; and as a community theater actor, musician, and patron. I have served in leadership positions in professional legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Public Interest Law Initiative. My pro bono legal clients have included Little Mountain Community Theatre, Alliance for the Great Lakes, Friends of the Chicago River, and Milwaukee Riverkeeper.
My mission is to bring my extensive legal and policy experience to the Will County Board. I am committed to lowering taxes, promoting economic growth, and ensuring that Will County remains a great place to live and work. You can be confident that your voice will be heard and your interests will be represented. As residents of Will County, all of us see tremendous opportunities for our families in this community, and we want our government to be efficient, transparent, and corruption-free. We also believe in low taxes and civility in political campaigns and government. I strongly believe in these common principles, and these are the principles that will guide me if I have the honor of earning your vote and being elected to the Will County Board.
